The past May had just seen my busiest month in recent years come and go. While I'm still trying to find time for some of the new places I have missed, here is one recent visit to a relatively new ramen shop rumoured to exist along East Coast Road. (As it turned out, it's just a few doors away from
Penny University.)
Three ramen soup bases: miso, shōyu and shio. Noteworthy is the uncommon use of ingredients such as
yamaimo (Japanese yam) and
daikon (radish) in their ramen.
The broths here were not as robust as that of
Tonkotsu King (of course nobody can beat that), it had quite a unique taste of its own nevertheless.
For those chashu lovers who don't like big chucks of meat, the
Chashu Ramen ($12) would probably save your day.
Given the amount of time it takes to travel, I don't think I will come down again any time soon. But for those of you who are already in the area next time, here is one place for you to check out.
