Located along Bali Lane lined with gaffiti-painted shophouses, Gogo Rama is a new kid in the block where you can find quirky artworks and gifts for your room and friends. There is also a small café in the shop space for one to chill.
All excited about this new find, a friend and I went down to check it out last week but it turned out that there wasn't a pleasant experience for us after all.

It all started when we wanted to place our orders.

Have you ever been to an eatery where you found that more than 90% of the menu was not available?
I'm actually cool about having to work with the lack of food variety if I'm well informed beforehand, but the frustrating episodes whereby I took long to decide on a particular thing but later only to find out it not available which got 'replayed' three times eventually got on my nerves.

Blue Monday ($4.90) was a concoction of orange and apple juices, not something to my liking.

After what felt like a good one hour wait, our Empanada ($9) finally showed up (we were the only customers then). This megasized Spanish 'samosa' filled with beef turned out to be quite tasty, and my companion concurred.

"I dare you to put your finger there." I challenged my companion.
Ambience wise, I liked the many artworks around the café, especially the ones by Anarkitty. The dim lighting made this space exceptionally cosy and inviting. The food selection here albeit limited was not too bad. Or should I say everything would have been better if only the deafening music wasn't there?
In between songs, often did we find ourselvesspeaking shouting at the top of voice during our conversation. Perhaps the café should seriously consider providing hearing protective equipment for the poor little girl who works here for long hours.
There is a no-photography policy in the house, meaning no pointing of cameras at the artworks and products.
I often got approached and advised by service staff not to take photos at eateries, but the way this was done here colud have be more tactful, in my opinion.

I really enjoyed my visits to this place. I liked that its a gallery and shop first and then a cafe second. I had no problems ordering but i think it's the luck of the draw, many times Ive had bad experiences at some place whilst everyone else had a good time! The other thing that actually made me LOOVE the place was the music. Having lived abroad for so long Gogorama gave me that naturally grunge attitude I have been searching for here in crisp clean singapore. I remember my experience in this uberhip Berlin cafe where waiters were scarce and if you found one they were rude PLUS the music was so loud u could feel ur heart pound to it. But everyone was beautiful and cool and that's how they(and I) liked it. I can understand that everyone has different tastes and ideals so what drew me to the place turned you off about it! It's a pity. Nice pictures on the blog by the way. Very rich and vibrant.
Hi penny, thank you for your compliment and sharing of your thoughts. Somehow I share the same sediment with u on the draw of luck; I guess after all it all boils down to individual's preference in a very personal level. i enjoy the kinda cafes with with a relaxing vibe and soothing music the most :D
