Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King

Located on the ground floor of Orchid Hotel in Tanjong Pagar, this new ramen place from Tokyo is giving its competitors a run for the money.

豚骨王

As its name suggests, only pork bone broth is served here. But that doesn't make this place necessarily boring. At Tonkotsu King, you get to personalize your ramen, by filling up a questionnaire-like order ticket, with options such as the type of soup base (plain, red spicy or black spicy) you like, strength of your broth, noodle texture and many more.

胡麻と玉子

Little something to keep the hands and mouth busy whilist waiting for your food. Egg basket was provided free of charge.

With the most ordinary ramen priced at $10.80, it only made economic sense to go for the all-in version for just $4 more.

とんこつラーメン - $14.80

It didn't take long for my order to be served. Before I could taste my food, attention was drawn towards the XXL chashuu slices slabs (which came in pair!), as well as the face-sized seaweed sheet stuck to the side of the bowl.

I very much enjoyed my Tonkotsu Ramen Special ($14.80), with spring onion, black fungus, fatty chashuu, and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The broth was hearty, strong and flavoursome, just the way I liked it to be. As on the stiff noodles I chose, the noodle threads were curly springy and paired with the soup pretty well. I also helped myself to some pickled beansprouts for extra tastes and texture.

While sipping up the heavenly broth, I spotted lumps of pork fat lurking within, a sure sighting that would give any health-conscious person a heart attack. So guys, be warned.

レッドスバイシーとんこつラーメン - $15.80

Friend had Red Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Special ($15.80), which was served with a dash of chili oil and chili powder. Though the broth was too strong for his tastebuds towards the end, I could only hear praises of his equally sinful spicy noodles.

Let's come back next week, shall we?

Ambience wise, it is the kinda place only good for a quick meal then move on. So have your post-dinner activities planned out in advance.

Haha, its not exactly new in the sense that the same owner runs Keisuke Ramen in Parco. Not sure if they serve the same thing though, after Keisuke no longer has prawn broth ramen.

How many eggs did you eat? =D

Hi Daniel, ya I heard from a friend Keisuke @ Parco Marina now serves crab broth.

I gobbled down 2 eggs before my ramen showed, wondering what the difference was between the white and brown eggs.
