The Coffee Daily

It's a love-hate relationship I have with Serangoon Garden. On one hand this place is a food heaven where you will never run out of dining options, even in the wee hours. On the other its inaccessibility kinda bugs the west-residing me.

But after seeing a post on Sarah's Loft, I braced myself for a 1.5 hour ride to get to this somewhat familiar place called Brighton Crescent. Why the familiarity? Forgetful was I that my last visit here (the then Awfully Chocolate) left my prime lens cap-less for the next couple of weeks.

The Coffee Daily

You find this one month old café located along a row of old school shophouses. Its menu serves simple coffee and smoothies. You can also pick up some sandwiches, cakes and pastries if you wanna get a bite.

Mocha - $5.30

My Mocha ($5.30) was slightly nutty, less robust than I had expected, nonetheless still made a good perk-up for a gloomy afternoon.

It was Shepherd's Pie Friday. Owner Nicole urged us to give their signature dish a try.

Shepherd's Pie - $8.90

My apologies for this unsightly mess, but this pie we had was pretty good. The stew was warm and juicy, full of beefy flavours. The mash potato was smooth and the crust on top was crisp.

Almond Croissant - $3.20

I liked their Almond Croissant ($3.20) which was not too buttery and there were some bites to it.

The café adopts a 1980s minimalist interior sporting one-of-a-kind chairs, vintage records, old school fan and such. It gave me an idea how I want to do my kitchen next time.

Old Painting

This one left me a bit speechless. It's sure a piece of art in its own right.

I like the retro and also a bit post modern deco. I think there is not a single cafe that you feature that I don't have the feeling: I want to go there! Did you try the coffee too? Nice?

Hi Joyce, don't you just love these new brew bars popping up lately? I still have over 10 of them on my list wanting to clear :)

On the coffee at Coffee Daily, I can't say it's one of the best, as my latte tasted a little bland, but the cozy ambience made up for it.

Oh yes, they r more than my stomach can take. So glad that the coffee scene is much more interesting lately n generally of better quality than boring coffee chains.
