If you have been with this blog for some time, it shouldn't be hard to tell that I have an eye for visual arts. So imagine my delight when I got to know Cups N Canvas through a friend of mine.
Located along Selegie Road, this retro chic café blends the art elements pretty well into its earthly-toned interior, complete with a strong but cosy oriental touch. While the entire cafe is open to the public during normal hours, its art studio half will be closed when there is painting class going on.

The food menu carries a wide variety of offerings ranging from small nibbles and sandwiches, to pasta and all-day brekkie items. Flip over to the drink menu, among the usual suspects you spot a number of interesting-sounding names such as the Sweet potato latte ($4.80) and Sticky date shake ($6.80).

Following doctor's advice to tame my caffeine cravings, I decided to have this Hot Chocolate Canvas ($5) (which eventually didn't help my coughing either). Oh dear, the innocent looking thingy was easily one of the meanest hot choco I had. The cup was thick and well-frothed. The chocolate taste was very rich, perfectly balanced by just the right dose of milk.

Olive Room ($12.9) came as a natural choice of main for mushroom fan like me.

One of the signature dishes here is undeniably their Fish N Chips ($12.90). The batter was nicely done without being too touch, while retaining the original sweet taste of the dory. Good to eat it alone or pair it with their very delectable homemade tartar sauce.
This one is definitely worth trying (in spite of the sore throat I had to suffer the following days).
With the current weekday lunch promotion (1130am to 0230pm), you get to enjoy this for just $9.9, with one complimentary drink of your choice.

Peach-Lychee Tea

Also on the offer list is their Beef N Burger ($10.90) which is going at just $7.90 during lunch. Of course, your drink will be on the house as well.

Breakfast Canvas (16.90)

Over at the counter display were a good selection of home-baked sweets. Enjoyed a slice of French Vanilla Apple($6.5) with a cup of Gryphon's Pearl of the Orient to go along.

There is also a table or two in the al fresco area for those who long for some privacy. Needless to say, the space is also littered with exhibition pieces.

With so many tantalizing treats, a budget-friendly menu and great ambience, this place totally deserves a place on my list of favourite cafés (Mind you, I have fewer than 5 on the list from the 80 tags thus far). Visit soon before it gets too crowded.

Thanks for the post. :) went there today. Didn't expect promo prices on weekend too. :) very tempted to have the apple cake n also the painting class. :p
sihan: you are most welcome :)
m: the burger I had was quite remarkable as well. the patty was very juicy and soft :D
joyce: hey, thx for the tip off. hope you enjoyed yourself :)
In case anyone misunderstands, the promo is that any meal u order comes with a free drink. So I got to enjoy the olive room with a free drink at $12.90. I like the furnitures they used, very mid century style. My only complaint is the place is very echoey, so can get quite noisy...
Thx for clarifying. that's still not bad for that price as there is no ++ on the bill. I like their furniture too, feel like buying one of their coffee table home :p
the burger n fish and chips look good! ok, this is in my list now!
Look forward to your post soon :)
